Cleveland Park Events Center
Falls in people ages 65 and older are among the most common injuries in that age population. As a result, many seniors are unable to remain independent.
The Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program is a free fall prevention program that includes a one-hour, twice-per-week group fitness class where all participants work at their own pace. Anyone over the age of 50, including those who use walkers or canes, can participate in the SAIL program.
Registration is not required. Please join us at any session that fits your schedule.

Balance and Breathe Yoga

Join Carolyn Bailey, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, for Balance and Breathe Yoga. Slips, trips and falls are the leading causes of injury for older adults. This class is designed to help prevent the process of deterioration and loss of muscle mass that can lead to falls.

Stop the Bleed
Cherokee County Public Library-Blacksburg
Spartanburg Medical Center's Trauma Care Services would like you to join them for this important training.
Minutes count! Someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as 5 minutes. That’s why bleeding control is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED training. The 60-minute formal presentation is followed by hands-on practice to ensure that participants feel confident in their ability to STOP THE BLEED.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief Lunch & Learn

Gibbs Cancer Center-Spartanburg
This free, four-session group offers cancer patients and survivors practical mindfulness tools to reduce stress, build emotional resilience and enhance overall well-being.
Each session introduces new skills such as breathwork, guided meditation and relaxation techniques, which are designed to increase self-awareness and support everyday life. Participants will explore the benefits of mindfulness in a supportive space while connecting with others on a healing journey.

Breast Cancer Support Group - Hybrid

The Survivorship Program offers a unique, monthly opportunity for breast cancer patients and survivors to connect with one another at no charge.
Research shows that taking part in support groups where you both give and receive help is an effective way to reduce the stress and anxiety that can come with a breast cancer diagnosis.
This support group will be led by Gail Ebert, MMFT, LMFT-A, CAMS-II, CPC of Illuminate Therapy, Spartanburg.
This event will be held in-person at Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg. If you are unable to attend in person, a virtual attendance option is available for this event.
Music Therapy-Cancer Patients and Survivors

The Survivorship Program offers monthly opportunities for survivors to fellowship with one another while engaging in music therapy.
Music therapy interventions can target a variety of healthcare goals such as promoting wellness, managing stress, alleviating pain, expressing feelings and emotions, enhancing memory, improving communication, promoting physical rehabilitation, sensory processing and more. This session will be hosted by Carolina Music Therapy.
This unique offering from the Survivorship Program is available to cancer survivors at no charge.

In this class, we provide the information you need to reduce anxiety and help you have a more positive birth experience. Prepared Childbirth is a comprehensive, fact-based and fun class covering various topics about your baby's birthday.
Pelham Prostate Cancer Support Group
Join us at Gibs Cancer Center - Pelham or online, for learning opportunities and time to talk with fellow prostate cancer patients and survivors. Our support group is a safe place to discuss your cancer diagnosis and what you are going through.
We will meet in the demonstration cooking kitchen on the second floor.
Mending Hearts and Minds

Heart Wellness Center
Heart patients and caregivers may find difficulty in processing their health journey after a cardiac event, procedure or serious diagnosis. It’s important to know that you are not alone in these feelings. We've invited Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Maggie Gainey to bring tools, comfort, and a touch of hope through an uplifting presentation.

Skin Cancer Screening-Spartanburg

Weight Loss Surgery - Online Support Group

This group provides Upstate area support for patients in all phases of the weight loss surgery process. Combined with the help of friends and family members, this support group allows you to network with others who have experienced similar challenges and lifestyle changes after weight loss surgery. Patients who have not yet had surgery are encouraged to attend.
Safe Kids 101 for New and Expecting Parents

This one-hour webinar includes safety topics that will help you keep your child safe and avoid accidents and injuries.
This class will share information about basic car seat features, installation techniques and how to choose an appropriate car seat based on your child's age, height and weight.
Learn ways to avoid accidents in the home involving fire, burns, drowning, falls and poisonings. Know how to identify safe and unsafe sleep environments for your baby.

ARISE-Sleep Education

During this comprehensive course, offered by Spartanburg Medical Center and Safe Kids of the Piedmont, you will learn about South Carolina's child passenger safety laws, the safest way to secure your child in a vehicle, proper car seat installation, when to update or replace your child's car seat and other safety tips to help keep your child safe on the road.
Attendees who have violations of the child passenger occupant law on their records can receive a certificate of completion as proof of participation. This class is only offered once for child passenger occupant violations.

Join us at noon on the third Tuesday every month for this hybrid (virtual and in-person) support group. Meetings are designed for 30-45 minutes of education followed by 15-30 minutes of discussion. Please join the meeting then stay as long as you are able.

Colorful Cooking at Home: Dr. Steven Corso & Mushroom Walnut Tacos

Medical oncologist Dr. Steven Corso is cooking in the kitchen this month. Together, we will whip up tacos stuffed with a savory ground mushroom and walnut filling and a cool, crunchy slaw to top. All we can say is don't knock it until you taste it – this is a great way to enjoy mushrooms for the non-mushroom-lovers out there. These recipes are jam-packed with nutrients that support immune system functions, therefore allowing the body to better find and kill cancer cells, prevent tumor growth, reduce inflammation and even prevent cancer-causing substances from being absorbed into the body.
Adding color to your plate with plant foods is one of the most effective ways to feel your best. Colorful Cooking at Home is designed to inspire, educate, and showcase how simple and delicious dishes can be. Join host Culinary Medicine Coordinator and Registered Dietitian Kerri Stewart as she navigates different topics and dishes with the common theme of color.
