Pediatrician Kelly Kane brings love for children and rural communities to Union

By Staff reports on July 25, 2025

Dr. Kelly Kane is all about making her community a better place.

So, when the opportunity came for her to practice pediatrics in Union, Dr. Kane knew it was meant to be.

Eager to serve young patients with budding hearts and minds, Dr. Kane said she hopes to play a small role in the revitalization, growth and development of Union County.

Dr. Kane is now accepting new patients as a pediatrician at UMC Center for Pediatrics, a division of Union Medical Center, inside the new facility at 1201 Furman L. Fendley Hwy.

“Coming here has just felt like this is where I was meant to be,” she said.

Previously, Dr. Kane was a lead pediatrician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Children’s Community Pediatrics in Pennsylvania for more than 11 years.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s community atmosphere and commitment to bringing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in more rural environments attracted Dr. Kane to the area.

Finding ways to work through barriers, understanding social determinants of health and bringing quality health care close to home is her passion.

“It’s an opportunity to be in Union, and I’m not afraid to work hard and think outside the box,” Dr. Kane said.

Since middle school, Dr. Kane knew she wanted to be a pediatrician, and she never looked back. She enjoys getting to know each patient and treating each child as if they were her own.

“I love the energy kids have, their curiosity and the fact that they are so open to change,” she said. “They could be having the worst day and then you start to play check-up with them, and then they get it and become comfortable being there.”

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kane loves spending time with her “fur babies,” Daisy, Dahlia – both dogs – and her cat, Pablo.

She loves all things art including pottery and glass art. She and her husband also own a single-engine airplane, a 1965 Piper Comanche, and enjoy flying.
