In collaboration with our March of Dimes NICU Family Support program, we are excited to offer our community an Infant CPR class option. Infant CPR offers lifesaving safety information.
This non-certification Infant CPR class is designed specifically for expectant parents. Our essential hands-on class provides the skills and confidence to turn a life-threatening situation into a lifesaving one. Come gain the confidence, skills and knowledge essential to saving an infant's life.

Balance and Breathe Yoga
Cherokee County Library-Gaffney
Join Carolyn Bailey, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, for Balance and Breathe Yoga. Slips, trips and falls are the leading causes of injury for older adults. This class is designed to help prevent the process of deterioration and loss of muscle mass that can lead to falls.
Beginners are welcome. You must be able to get on and off the floor without assistance.

Cleveland Park Events Center
Falls in people ages 65 and older are among the most common injuries in that age population. As a result, many seniors are unable to remain independent.
The Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program is a free fall prevention program that includes a one-hour, twice-per-week group fitness class where all participants work at their own pace. Anyone over the age of 50, including those who use walkers or canes, can participate in the SAIL program.

Eastside YMCA
Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases your risk for serious health problems, including stroke and heart attack.
Pelham Medical Center partners with Eastside YMCA to offer free blood pressure screenings. In addition to having your blood pressure checked, you will receive a tracking card to help keep up with your numbers plus education about what the numbers mean and ways to control hypertension.

Gibbs Cancer Center-Pelham
This six-week grief and loss support class, facilitated by Janet Bell, M.Ed., LPC, offers a compassionate and supportive space for individuals coping with the loss of a loved one or significant life change. Guided by Janet's clinical expertise and gentle approach, participants will explore the many dimensions of grief, learn healthy coping and self-care strategies and gain insight into the emotional, physical and social impacts of loss.
Each session provides the opportunity for reflection, discussion and connection with others who understand the grief journey. Participants are encouraged to share at their own comfort level. This class is open to anyone seeking understanding, support and tools to navigate grief.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own mats, blocks and other yoga tools to the class. If this is your first time attending, we will provide you with a mat and block to use.

February is Heart Health Awareness Month, and Go Red Day is celebrated on Feb. 6. This national campaign helps to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the #1 cause of death in the U.S. We encourage everyone to focus on heart health through education, prevention and lifestyle changes such as healthy eating, exercise, stress management and quitting smoking.
Wear your red and join us anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Spartanburg Medical Center's All Spice Cafe, to learn more about your heart by touring the inflatable MegaHeart. Our heart wellness staff will be on site to answer any questions and our chefs are making a heart healthy lunch that will be available for purchase.

Prostate Cancer Support Group
Monday, Feb. 9, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Gibbs Cancer Center- Pelham
Join us at Gibbs Cancer Center - Pelham or online, for learning opportunities and time to talk with fellow prostate cancer patients and survivors. Our support group is a safe place to discuss your cancer diagnosis and what you are going through.
This month, Dr. Hal Stewart, PhD, LPC and co-founder of the Center for Sexual and Relational Health, will be sharing tips on intimacy during and after diagnosis. Dr. Stewart will highlight the many avenues of intimacy and ways to stay connected with your spouse or partner that extend beyond sexually based intimacy.
**This will be a men's only support group session to allow for a safe environment for discussion. If you cannot attend in person, there will be a virtual option.
Prepared Parents: Childbirth
Spartanburg Medical Center
Learn everything you need to know about the childbirth process and the options available to you during pregnancy, labor and delivery.
This in-person class provides the information you need to help reduce anxiety and allow you to have a more positive birth experience. Prepared Childbirth is a fun class that is comprehensive and fact-based. A wide variety of topics pertaining to your baby’s birthday will be covered.
Breast Cancer Support Group - Hybrid
Tuesday, Feb. 10, 5:45 to 7 p.m.
Gibbs Cancer Center – Spartanburg or online
The Survivorship Program offers a unique, monthly opportunity for breast cancer patients and survivors to connect with one another at no charge.
Research shows that taking part in support groups where you both give and receive help is an effective way to reduce stress and anxiety that can come with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Gail Ebert, MMFT, LMFT-A, CAMS-II, CPC of Illuminate Therapy, Spartanburg, will lead this support group.
This event will be held in person at Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg. If you are unable to attend in person, a virtual attendance option is available.
Head and Neck Cancer Support Group
Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Have you recently been diagnosed with head and neck cancer? Are you undergoing treatment or are a survivor?
Join us for our head and neck cancer support group. The group is associated with the Support for oral and head and neck cancer organization. This group is open to anyone at any stage of diagnosis or survivorship.
Meetings will have in-person and virtual options available and registration is required.

This course prepares expectant parents for their baby's arrival. Topics include breastfeeding, diapering, bathing, and medical and safety information. A local pediatrician and a perinatal educator will lead this class.
Cooking up Confidence-Virtual Cooking Series

Cook along with various healthcare professionals from Diabetes Education, Food Services, Cardiology, Oncology Support Services and Culinary Medicine from the comfort of your own home. While we have different specialists teaching, these classes are for everyone.
Cooking Up Confidence is a series of four virtual cooking classes and will cover a variety of different cooking techniques to make home-prepared meals easier and fun! Recipes can be adapted to meet your family's needs.

Prepared: LAMAZE Childbirth (two-week series)
Spartanburg Medical Center
Lamaze childbirth education classes at Spartanburg Medical Center serve families no matter what type of birth they are planning for. All classes within the Lamaze childbirth series present evidence-based information for normal and safe birth, influenced by the Lamaze six healthy birth practices. Classes provide in-depth information for expectant families, reducing their fear or anxiety while building confidence and preparing them for birth.
Please note this class is a two-week series and will meet for two consecutive Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m.
In this class series you will learn about:
- Lamaze six healthy birth practices and relaxation exercises
- Anatomy/physiology of normal and undisturbed birth
- Techniques for your support person and how to minimize discomforts of labor
- Communicating with your care provider and benefits and risks of common medical interventions during labor
- Planning for postpartum, breastfeeding, newborn care and more
Each Lamaze Childbirth Educator is a labor and delivery nurse as well and is up to date on birthing practices and policies.
All Prenatal Education Classes at Spartanburg Medical Center include you and a support person with each registration.
Just the Ticket

During this comprehensive course, offered by Spartanburg Medical Center and Safe Kids of the Piedmont, you will learn about South Carolina's child passenger safety laws, the safest way to secure your child in a vehicle, proper car seat installation, when to update or replace your child's car seat and other safety tips to help keep your child safe on the road.
Attendees who have violations of the child passenger occupant law on their records can receive a certificate of completion as proof of participation. This class is only offered once for child passenger occupant violations.

Diabetes Wellness Circle
Tuesday, Feb. 17, noon to 1 p.m.

Join us at noon on the third Tuesday of every month for this hybrid (virtual and in-person) support group. Meetings are designed for 30-45 minutes of education followed by 15-30 minutes of discussion. Please join the meeting then stay as long as you are able. This is a hybrid meeting, so you may come in person or join us virtually through Microsoft Teams.
If you would like to come in person, you must call (864-560-6487) or email Madison (mapate@srhs.com) to reserve your seat in the classroom as space is limited. If you do not contact us directly, a link to the virtual meeting will be sent the day before through your email.
Cardiac Connection: Go Red for Heart Month

Join us for our monthly Cardiac Connection, a supportive gathering for heart patients and caregivers. February is heart month and we will talk about the differences in heart care between men and women. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to perform Hands Only CPR which can help save lives.
Weight Loss Surgery-Online Support Group

This group provides Upstate area support for patients in all phases of the weight loss surgery process. Combined with the help of friends and family members, this support group allows you to network with others who have experienced similar challenges and lifestyle changes after weight loss surgery. Patients who have not yet had surgery are encouraged to attend.
Safe Kids 101 for New and Expecting Parents

This one-hour webinar includes safety topics that will help you keep your child safe and avoid accidents and injuries. This class will share information about basic car seat features, installation techniques and how to choose an appropriate car seat based on your child's age, height and weight. Learn ways to avoid accidents in the home involving fire, burns, drowning, falls and poisonings. Know how to identify safe and unsafe sleep environments for your baby.
