Dr. Lauren Summerell wants to see patients have a voice. With a heart for women’s health, she has devoted herself to providing exceptional OB/GYN care. 

Dr. Summerell is now accepting new patients at Medical Group of the Carolinas – Carolina Piedmont OB/GYN, which has four locations in the Upstate – one in Boiling Springs, two in Spartanburg and one in Simpsonville. 

In joining the Carolina Piedmont OB/GYN team of physicians and providers, Dr. Summerell is eager to fulfill her lifetime passion for patient care. 

“I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in being a doctor,” she said. 

Dr. Summerell grew up in Powdersville, completed her undergraduate studies at Clemson University and attended the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg. During residency, she discovered her calling as an obstetrician. 

“The more I did it, the more I got invested in women’s health,” she said. 

In caring for patients, Dr. Summerell strives to be a trusted advocate. 

“I want patients to trust me, whether that’s guiding them through a pregnancy or the challenges of adolescence or during hormonal changes from menopause, I want to be someone my patients feel they can talk to about anything.” 

Dr. Summerell and her husband, Ben, enjoy spending time with their two dogs – Tilly and Fern. They share a love for the outdoors and the many recreational opportunities the Upstate has to offer. In her free time, she also loves to read, cook and explore the Greenville and Spartanburg culinary scenes.
