Childhood curiosity, desire to help others led Dr. Daniel Meetze to a lifetime of medicine

By Staff reports on July 9, 2026

Dr. Daniel Meetze has known he wanted to be a physician since first grade.

With a natural curiosity for science and a deep appreciation for helping others, medicine felt like the right path early on—and it’s a calling he has followed for more than 25 years.

Now joining Medical Group of the Carolinas – Internal Medicine – Eastside as an internal medicine physician, Dr. Meetze brings decades of experience and a thoughtful, patient-centered philosophy to his practice.

For Dr. Meetze, medicine isn’t just about helping patients live longer—it’s about helping them live well.

Much of Dr. Meetze’s passion for medicine—and particularly caring for older adults—comes from his upbringing. Growing up in Gaffney, he spent significant time around older adults, including retired teachers his family regularly visited. That early exposure shaped his comfort and connection with senior patients, a population he continues to enjoy serving today.

After completing his training, Dr. Meetze worked in geriatric clinics, nursing homes and acute-care settings, further solidifying his dedication to internal medicine and senior health.

Dr. Meetze’s approach centers on listening carefully, understanding each patient’s perspective and identifying their personal goals of care. He believes effective treatment starts with trust—especially at a time when many patients feel cautious or overwhelmed by healthcare decisions.

Rather than focusing solely on technology or test results, Dr. Meetze works with patients to balance medical recommendations with quality of life, independence and individual values.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Meetze values time with family. He and his wife enjoy antiquing, visiting thrift shops, hiking, camping, exercising and staying active in their church community through serving and weekly Bible study groups. Dr. Meetze and his wife have two children. His daughter is pursuing a career in health care, and his son is studying engineering.
