Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and Pelham Medical Center recognized by Most Wired

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) and Pelham Medical Center (PMC) are staying connected. Because of this, SRHS and PMC, a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, was named a “Most Wired” health system for their focus on keeping patients' data secure.

The 2016 Most Wired Survey measures the adoption level of information technology (IT) by hospitals throughout the United States. The study aids health system leaders in mapping their IT plans for the future.

“The healthcare system leverages technology to achieve a high level of patient safety and satisfaction,” said Harold Moore, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System vice president and chief information officer. “One example is our use of Palm Vein Biometric Identification for patient registration, which was implemented in 2013. This technology improved patient identification and reduced the risk of identity theft.”

In 2015, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) was also recognized by HIMSS Analytics as achieving Stage 6 — out of 7 stages — on the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. This recognition showcased SRHS's advanced electronic patient environment, which resulted in faster clinical workflows in a more secure environment.

PMC and SRHS continue to build on this momentum in technological advances by implementing Epic, an enterprise-wide electronic health record system. Epic will link hospital departments and specialties; creating a single electronic record of a patient's medical history. Implementation of this new system will transform the delivery of patient care; enhancing patient safety, treatment and service.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System was recognized as Most Wired in 2003 and 2007, and PMC was recognized in 2015.
