Spartanburg Regional Foundation holds ceremony for Hospice

By Jessica Pickens on December 7, 2016

Every Christmas, families celebrate the lives of loved ones lost. The Spartanburg Regional Foundation and the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home give people a unique way to remember those family members through the “Light Up A Life” tree lighting.

The annual fundraiser allows families to make a donation in remembrance of those who have passed away. For nearly 30 years, the Spartanburg Regional Foundation has hosted its “Light Up A Life” annual campaign to raise money for the Hospice Special Needs Fund, which provides financial assistance to hospice patients in need and supports program enhancements such as bereavement services.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 3 and 7 p.m., a light was placed on the Tree of Memory at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, located at 686 Jeff Davis Drive, for each donation made.

“The holidays are a time when we think back on family memories and loved ones,” said Kristy Caradori, executive director of the Spartanburg Regional Foundation. “The Foundation's ‘Light Up A Life' tree lighting ceremony is a beautiful way to remember those who are no longer with us.”

Each donor received a remembrance ornament and released a biodegradable dove-shaped balloon at the end of the service.
